WHAT IS HYPNOTHERAPY?
Hypnotherapy is counselling with hypnosis and is a valuable therapy with which to release past trauma and de-condition established habits…
Your subconscious mind will only ever seek to promote our well-being and protect us….this is also where all our learning and memories are stored…traumatic that have been repressed or simply consciously forgotten... here we store our patterning, beliefs, habits and behaviours.... these are not easily accessible to your conscious mind and thus throwing you for a loop when you are consciously wanting to change something... achieve something... do something and keep falling into self sabotage and not knowing the why behind it all....
Your conscious mind is your awareness of this planet and self within the waking state.... alert and always learning and can rationalise…so something that may have been deemed dangerous or frightening to us as a child for example may not be so as an adult BUT our subconscious only knows the original “learning” to protect us from such situations and thus “battles” with our conscious…this out of date/faulty learning can then sometimes lead to low self-esteem, under achievement and sometimes worse. Often our subconscious' attempt to protect us can lead to raised fears and anxieties to phobic levels to keep us from a particular activity or stimulus it sees as dangerous due to “out of date learning”.
Utilising hypnosis in therapy often facilitates the “re-learning” process…
The hypnotic state is often described as ‘very relaxed, yet fully alert’…It is not the same as going to sleep, so you’re aware and in control of everything you do, and the state usually feels very pleasant….in fact, it’s a very natural thing that we all do...like day dreaming…you are aware of what is happening around you....you simply detach from it...you have become the observer. It is at this level of awareness that the re-learning is achieved. Afterwards, you will usually feel relaxed and refreshed, and will feel benefits from the therapy session almost immediately.

Motivation and responsibility for change comes solely from you, no-one can force you to make any changes you do not wish to make...even under hypnosis. You are in control at all times when under hypnosis. I, the therapist am a “tool” helping and guiding you through the changes required with the use of hypnosis.

However, as explained above, you, the client are in control at all times so hypnotherapy does not come with a 100% guarantee success rate for every person. We are all individuals and the needs and results will vary from person to person therefore for one reason or another, not everyone responds to therapy. Should this be the case as your therapeutic journey unfolds, it will be discussed with you and therapy may either be deferred until a time when you may be truly ready for change or it will be discontinued.
